Welcome to the CarteLS workshop!
Welcome on the web site dedicated to the cartesian grid, level-set & immersed boundary lecture series.
About 15 talks of 40 minutes are scheduled to discuss the open
questions that need to be further investigated for immersed boundary
and
penalization methods for PDEs.
The choice of cartesian grids is imposed by the twist of application challenges and the necessity to solve unsteady multiphysics problems with complex and time dependent geometries. Also, the progress of parallel computing techniques needs the design of easy to implement techniques with high scalability and the cartesian grid based simulations are convenient for such needs. The target of this "lecture series" is to bring together a limited number of expert scientists in the branch, to exchange on this family of methods (and their applications) which simulate multiphysics problems with immersed (or embedded) boundaries on grids that do not conform to the shape of these boundaries. Finally, a special focus will be put on level-set methods that permit to track interfaces and shapes with curves/surfaces on a fixed Cartesian grid.
This workshop is organized in the framework of the Cluster of excellence CPU - IdEx Bordeaux.
The workshop will have a format of 1 afternoon - 1 full day - 1 morning. It will take place in Bordeaux (France), march 25 - 27 2014.
